Frequently asked questions
What is the legal frame of a charter?
Our bareboat or skippered charter packages are based on a contract in between our company (the agency) and the customer describing all financial arrangements and details of the booking. This contract is subject to the Cypriot law. Although in most countries an additional contract is required in between the customer and the owner. This contract is subject to the local law (port of embarkation) and refers in details to the use of the yacht and any possible disputes.
What does the charter fee include?
Yacht prices are in EURO, per week, depending on the period of the year. Charter fees include the rental cost of the yacht, insurance and VAT (all taxes).
Port fees for embarkation and disembarkation day are also included.
Are there any additional charges?
The following additional charges may apply:
• Mandatory Service pack 50-180 euro depending on the size of the boat and base. Includes end cleaning, bed linen, towels, cooking gas, spare fuel for the outboard. It could be offered free of charge by some providers.
• Fuel & water - The yacht should be delivered topped up with fuel and water.
• Port or Marina fees - This is a daily-base fee to berth, which applies to a few ports. This amount varies, as it is linked to the country and itinerary.
• Transit Log – This is a local tax per charter applied in some countries. It may vary starting from 70 euro.
• Optional - Any optional extras that you might have specifically requested like railing net, gennaker, skipper, hostess.
What is the security deposit?
The boat is comprehensively insured, including third Party cover, beyond a deductible "excess" figure.
The Refundable Security Deposit is held against the yacht's insurance excess and, if there is no damage or loss to the boat or her equipment, this amount is refunded to you.
The Refundable Security Deposit covers:
• Loss of or damage to the yacht or its tender or to third parties.
• Loss of or damage to the equipment listed in the inventory and given to the charterer at check-in.
• Costs incurred if the yacht is returned in an extremely dirty condition.
• Cost of returning the yacht to the prearranged harbor if the charterer fails to do so by the scheduled date and time.
• Cost of refueling if the boat is returned without refilled tanks.
The payment of the Refundable Security Deposit is designed to cover only one incident of a substantial nature at any one time, i.e.: in case of loss or damage to equipment of significant value such as outboard engine or dinghy, the charterer will have the right to an immediate replacement whilst on charter, provided that the charterer pays a new Refundable Security deposit immediately upon receipt of replacement or repair.
The Refundable Security Deposit is payable at the yacht's base before embarkation.
What should I bring with me?
The boat is fully equipped for charter and apart from provisioning and your personal belongings, you could step onboard as you are!
Do you provide boat briefings?
The charterer and his or her party will be given general briefing covering the local cruising grounds. Questions about navigation, anchorages, prevailing conditions, or any part of the desired itinerary can be answered. A more specific boat briefing aboard the yacht will then be given, covering all the operating systems, including rigging, electrical system, water system, windlass, stove, dinghy, outboard and emergency systems.
Should I have travel insurance?
In your own interest, you are strongly advised to buy suitable travel insurance before leaving home, including cancellation insurance to protect your booking deposit.
We offer a variety of charter insurance policies so please ask for further information.
Sailing qualifications
In most countries a sailing certificate or license is required for the skipper. A VHF certificate may be also necessary in some countries.
This certificate/license can be issued by a "yachting" authority such as a sailing club, sailing school, yachting/sailing association, etc.
The skipper must have his/her original document with him/her.
You may also be asked to submit a sailing resume that will enable us to assess your ability
to sail in safety.
The owner or his representative reserves the right to refuse chartering a boat or to insist that charterers hire a professional skipper if charterer’s sailing skills are not deemed sufficient.
Delivery - Redelivery day
Weekly charters usually begin and end on Saturdays. In case of uneven periods of time, such as a ten or twelve-day charter, we will do our best, depending on the circumstances, to accommodate your requirements. All charters begin at 17:00 on the day of departure and typically end at 09:00 on the day of arrival.
However you will be required to return to base on the last evening of your charter as this is the minimum time required to ensure that the boat is delivered to the next charter in perfect working order
